Hi, my name is Martin James; this is my wife, Sharon. Weā€™ve been working with Joe Sheridan, who's our financial adviser for Intelligent Pensions, for just over 12 years now.

We had a couple of pensions that we were trying to bring together. My main desire was to retire at 55, which was always going to be a big ask. We needed some help to get there, and through Joe, he always gave us the best advice, and we were able to almost make that date.

The best advice that Intelligent Pensions, and in particular Joe, has ever offered is to understand what our real outgoings are so we can understand what we need to draw down on a monthly or annual basis from our pension. And the advice that he gave us on one occasion was actually not to move a pension over because the charges would outweigh the actual value.

The best thing about working with Intelligent Pensions is that they take on all the hard work. We don't have to worry about our pension, and we don't have to think about it. We just know that in the background, on a day-to-day basis, they are working hard for us, and they have taken all that responsibility away from us.
