Supporting b:friend Through Our Charity Incentive Scheme
This year, we launched our charity recommendation incentive scheme to support b:friend, a charity dedicated to combating loneliness and social isolation. Thanks to your trust and participation, we’ve raised £663 so far—with £400 from client recommendations and £263 from our Halloween fundraiser.
Our Glasgow team brought spooky fun to life this Halloween with a bake sale, online bingo, and even a “mummify a colleague” activity. A special mention to Alyn Roger, our office manager, who gamely allowed his team to wrap him in loo roll for donations! It was a fun-filled day that brought smiles to everyone while supporting a great cause.
Our commitment doesn’t stop there. For every initial meeting resulting from a client recommendation, whether in person or online, we pledge to donate £50 to b:friend. There’s no requirement for your referral to become a client; simply introducing us makes a difference.
What is b:friend?
b:friend is a charity that addresses loneliness by connecting volunteers with individuals seeking companionship. Through their befriending programmes, they enhance mental wellbeing and build community bonds.
Here’s what Sara Kopecsni, Senior Communications Officer at b:friend, shared about the impact of our contributions:
“We’d like to say a huge thanks to Intelligent Pensions’ customers, who supported our cause in 2024, and we are delighted that the company chose to continue the generous charity scheme in 2025.
“The donation has helped us cover costs for recruiting 33 befrienders, who will visit an older neighbour once a week for a chat to reduce loneliness.
“Since its launch in 2017 in Doncaster, b:friend has created almost 2,500 friendships in the community. We now work in South Yorkshire, Derbyshire, and Nottinghamshire and continue to expand into new areas.”
One heartwarming story comes from Jean, who found friendship through b:friend’s programme. She said:
“I absolutely love her [Harley] to bits; you couldn’t have picked anyone better for me. Do you know, if I’d had a daughter, I’d have wanted someone just like Harley.”
