Welcome to your May 2024 team update from Intelligent Pensions.

Intelligent Pensions features in the new VouchedFor Top Rated Adviser guide

Back in March, we shared the incredible news that six of our financial planners have been featured in the VouchedFor 2024 Guide to Top Rated Financial Advisers.

This is the biggest consumer-facing campaign celebrating the value of financial advice in 2024. It’s entirely based on consumer reviews and only those who are “top-rated” feature in the guide.

Needless to say, we’re bursting with pride. Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for our exceptional team members.

The guide was distributed on 7 March in The Times and will also be circulated in The Mail on Sunday, on 9 June. So, take a look and see if you can spot any familiar faces!

We welcome another newcomer to the team

This month we welcomed Ian Wilcock to the Intelligent Pensions team. He joins us as a financial planner, based in the north of England.

With 11 years of experience in financial planning and advice, Ian is dedicated to delivering a holistic service to his clients, incorporating pensions, investments, retirement, estate and Inheritance Tax planning.

In his free time, Ian enjoys keeping active. He’s a keen footballer, snooker player, and cyclist, having completed two coast-to-coast mountain bike rides.

He also loves spending quality time with his two daughters.

We’re delighted to have Ian on board.

The Intelligent Pensions team meet in Glasgow for training, workshops, and our first quiz!

Many of the Intelligent Pensions team enjoy the flexibility of working remotely. This allows them to meet a broad range of clients while also maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

While we regularly keep in touch via online sessions, meeting up three to four times a year at the head office in Glasgow has proved invaluable for team building and skills development.

So, last week, we all made our way to Glasgow where we took part in a packed two-day agenda of meetings, workshops, and training. This included:

  • A comprehensive business performance review, focusing on sharing best practice
  • An insightful coaching skills session
  • An in-depth examination of the implications of the Financial Conduct Authority’s retirement income review for our advice process
  • Technical sessions on onshore and offshore bond solutions, illustrated with real client examples
  • An exploration of Business Property Relief solutions, again with real client scenarios
  • An engaging investment update and discussion.

But it wasn’t all work and no play. After working our brains hard, we all thoroughly enjoyed the inaugural Intelligent Pensions quiz and challenge event.

It was a hard-fought contest with plenty of fun and laughter. I’m delighted to announce that Robyn, Tom, Shelly, and Dean emerged as the worthy champions and were each awarded a winner’s medal.

The event concluded with an excellent meal at Sloans, a cherished Glasgow establishment dating back to 1797.

It was an evening filled with good food, excellent company, live folk music, and even a little dancing! We can’t wait for our next face-to-face event.
